IRONWELD 309LSI Stainless MIG Wire
IRONWELD Stainless Steel 309LSi MIG Welding Wire is a premium, low-carbon stainless filler engineered for joining dissimilar metals (stainless to carbon/mild steel) and for buffer/buttering layers and stainless cladding. Its higher silicon content delivers excellent wetting, improved arc stability, and a smooth, clean bead—reducing post-weld cleanup. The elevated Cr-Ni chemistry offers strong resistance to corrosion and oxidation, even when dilution from the carbon-steel side is present.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
-
Dissimilar-Metal Specialist – Ideal for welding 304/316 stainless to carbon or low-alloy steels, and as a buffer layer before overlaying with 308L/316L.
-
Enhanced Weldability – Higher Si promotes fluidity and wetting for a smoother bead with minimal spatter.
-
Low Carbon Content (L-Grade) – Helps prevent carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion.
-
Dilution & Crack Resistance – Robust Cr-Ni balance maintains corrosion/oxidation resistance where base-metal dilution is high.
-
Stable Arc Performance – Consistent arc starts and excellent puddle control reduce rework and downtime.
APPLICATIONS
-
Dissimilar Joints – Joining stainless (e.g., 304/316) to carbon/mild steel, valves, flanges, and structural members.
-
Buffer/Buttering Layers – First pass on carbon steel prior to stainless overlays to improve corrosion performance.
-
Stainless Overlay & Cladding – Tanks, chutes, repair work, and surfaces requiring a stainless finish on mild-steel substrates.
-
Process & Power – Heat exchangers, furnace components, petrochemical and refinery fabrications requiring oxidation resistance.
-
Maintenance & Repair – General fabrication and refurbishment where mixed materials or unknown grades are encountered.
